Liberty Bell Inscription

Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land
unto all the Inhabitants thereof Lev. XXV X

By Order of the ASSEMBLY of the Province of
PENSYLVANIA for the State House in Philada.

Pass and Stow

The quotation "Proclaim
Liberty throughout all the land unto all the
inhabitants thereof," is from Leviticus 25:10.

Wondering about Pass and Stowe?
The Original bell, ordered from Whitechapel in England
was unsatisfactory and was recast several times by
Pass and Stowe, a Philadelphia Foundry, with little improvement.
The present bell cracked when rung for the first time to test it.

The chime that changed the world
occurred on July 8, 1776, when the
Liberty Bell rang out from the tower
of the State House, now know as Independence Hall,
summoning citizens to hear the first public
reading of the Declaration of Independence
by Colonel John Nixon.

Note: The Music is
John Philip Souza's "Liberty Bell March"
